Walking Tour: Pelourhino/Former Slave Trade Area and UNESCO World Heritage Site
Lunch in Pelourhino included
Workshop: The African History and Culture of Brazil examining the Portuguese initiated slave trade, resistance to slavery and the African influence on language and culture
Day Three
Workshop: The Educational System in Brazil: Protecting the Children examining intersections between education, poverty, child labor and efforts towards reform
Workshop: The Struggle for Racial Equality in Brazil with representatives from the Office of Racial Equality and the Reparations Project
Evening Performance: Bale Folclorico da Bahia Brazil’s only professional folk dance company or similar
Day Four
Workshop: The African Heritage of Brazil through Dance exploring the history of Samba and Capoeira. Includes an interactive class
Global Educators Networking Event local educators including teachers and administrators will discuss many issues in education including racial gaps, Black history requirements and more. This is an opportunity to form lasting partnerships
Day Five
Workshop: Candomble in Bahia: Origins, Structure and Meaning an examination of the history and role of the most popular Afro-Brazilian religion
Spiritual Cleansing: In the tradition of our African Ancestors, we will experience the beauty of African ritual

Day Seven
Full Day Cruise on the bay to explore Morro de Sao Paulo or Baia de Todos Santos. Visit to Itaparica and Ilha do Frades to relax, swim and enjoy the beach
