Day 2:

  • Evan X, Editor and Founder of Amandela Newspaper. Lecture: “History of UBAD Movement and Black Power in Belize”
  • Adelli Ramos, Asst. Editor of Amandala Newspaper. Lecture: “Mayan Movements: Legal Claims to Land Rights”
  • Walking Tour of the city
  • Evening cultural performance event at the Bliss Center for Performing Arts

Day 3:
(Orange Walk District to Hopkins)

  • Lamani Mayan Ruins Tour: Guided
  • Guided River Boat Ride
  • Traditional Garifuna Dinner at the Belize Women’s Collective in Hopkins
  • Check into Beach homes located right on the white sand beach

Day 4:

  • Free day for sun and fun (optional activities provided including snorkeling and scuba diving)
  • Evening Garifuna Drumming Lesson

Day 5:

  • Garifuna Day! Dangriga
  • Visit Pen’s Artist Studio – Introductory Garifuna Dance activity w Pen
  • Visit a Casava Family Farm—the staple crop of the Garifuna people
  • Garifuna Museum Tour

Day 6:

  • Day hike in the rain forest to amazing waterfalls and natural swimming pools

Day 7: 
(Mayan Mountains)

  • Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve and Lodge
  • Hiking
  • Waterfalls
  • Swimming holes
  • Evening Lecture: Ras Kayaba “African Transitions: From the US to Belize”

Day 8:
(Belize City)

  • Free Day in Belize City
  • Good Bye Group Dinner

  • Departure to home city or extend your stay!
